2022 celebrates the 50th anniversary of Pride, and to mark the event a 50p has been released by The Royal Mint.
Featuring a rainbow design by LGBTQ+ activist Dominique Holmes, this is the first ever UK coin released to celebrate Pride.
Each of the five rainbows in the design are accompanied with part of the inscription, “PRIDE PROTEST VISIBILITY UNITY EQUALITY”. Poignantly released on the 50th anniversary of the first London Pride, 2022’s march is set to rival the record-breaking 1.5 million people who turned up in 2019.
